Mikael Marin - five string viola, and Mia Marin (formerly Gustafsson) - five string fiddle; two fantastic musicians who have developed a unique sound.

Since they are both used to playing second voices and accompaniments, (Mikael in the swedish supertrio Väsen, Mia in the swedish up-and-coming groups [ni:d] and Mattias Pérez Trio) they have a very keen ear and are used to listening and adjusting to others when they play. This makes Marin/Marin one of the most synched and responsive duos in Sweden. They play a mix of traditional and new tunes, and are both well known in Sweden as accomplished composers. Mikael sounds like a whole orchestra on his own, and with Mia’s fiesty and skilled playing they create musical fireworks without parallel!

Their instruments give them a larger range than the "traditional" way of playing on two fiddles. Mia is since 2010 playing five string fiddle by Per Klinga in Mora. It's tuned as a fiddle and a viola (CGDAE). Mikael plays two five string violas. One which is made by Per Klinga, tuned like a fiddle and a viola (CGDAE), and another one made by Hans-Olof Hansson, which is tuned one octave below a fiddle, (GDAEB).

Marin/Marin have released the highly acclaimed CD ”Mot Hagsätra” on the label Dimma Sweden. In june 2011, their second album "Småfolket" was released, and in the spring/summer of 2013 they will release a third one. They have also made a tune book with 22 of their own tunes with second voices and chords. Find the tune book and the albums in the webshop.

In 2011 and 2012 Marin/Marin are touring in Sweden, France, Belgium, Norway and USA.
